‘Miles better for the Environment’

Members of ClimateDome were delighted when Newcastle-based Springfield Honda donated a brand new energy efficient car to the project.

Honda's new Hybrid Civic will help ClimateDome to both cut carbon emissions during their 15 month tour of the North East, whilst showing how small changes to lifestyle can make a big impact on the environment both now and in the future.

As winner of the 2007 definitive guide to Britain's greenest Cars - The Car Buyer's Guide, the Honda Civic Hybrid integrates a unique petrol and electric engine, which is capable of providing up to 700 miles on one tank of fuel.

Newcastle Springfield Honda manager, Mark Jobling, said: "ClimateDome highlights an important environmental message which Honda avidly supports through our commitment to low emission vehicles.

"The Honda Civic Hybrid represents a revolutionary step towards our dream of mass market vehicles powered by sustainable, pollution free energy and we are proud to offer this great car to ClimateDome."

ClimateDome project manager Mike Thomas said: "Climate change could have serious implications for our region unless we each take simple actions to alter the way we live. We are delighted by the support Honda have shown through their generous donation of this next generation vehicle.

"The Honda Civic will help us to cut our own carbon levels during the Dome's travels, whilst providing an excellent example of modern innovative technology that could make a real difference to our environment."
